Hush now. Listen. Far off in the Strait of Hormuz, four oil tankers have hit mines and caught fire. Now, on 31 October 2026, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered his military chiefs to answer any attack with an "immediate, impactful, and geographically unrestricted response," ABC News reports. Out on the open plains of Morfi, a new waterhole has formed around one question: will an Iran–US war break out by the end of this week? The herds that gathered there have come to no agreement. They are perfectly, nervously tied.

- No war50%
Look closely, though, because the herds are not the same size. War stands at 50% consensus with only 24 holders. No war stands at 50% with 28. The smaller herd is matching the bigger one on conviction, which means each animal in it is leaning in harder. In all, 31 traders have come down to drink, and $33,084 has been put behind their opinions. That is a modest crowd, gathered less than a day ago.
The trail behind them tells the same story of restless hooves. When the chart begins at Oct 31, War stood at 51% and No war at 49%. Since then War has wandered between 45% and 55%, and the lead has changed hands 6 times. Neither side has dug in for long.

The traders quoted in the theses all back No war. One of them, frog nation, writes "gm. aped. wagmi 🐸". Another, Josh L, offers something rarer: "i did like an hour of reading and came out way more confident, thats rare." ABC reports that Khamenei's orders point to Iran widening its targets beyond mostly military ones, and that Gulf states, which came under Iranian attack earlier in the year, have urged Washington not to restart the conflict. No War backer has explained their view.
Here is this ranger's view, offered softly from behind the long grass. A threat of unrestrained retaliation is built to deter, not to start a fight. It raises the cost of the first strike, and it makes the US and Israel the ones who would have to move. But deterrence and deadlines get along badly, and "by this week" is a very short season. In my own opinion, fire in the strait can spread faster than diplomacy, and that is reason enough to take both sides seriously; the tie is the most honest thing on the plain right now.
What would break the tie? A strike on Iranian soil, another tanker in flames, or a clear signal from Washington that it will hold back, given the Gulf states' pleas. Any of these would send one herd stampeding. Until then the waterhole stays split down the middle. You can wade in yourself and back your read in the opinion market on Morfi, but tread quietly. The herd startles easily this week.
