The Office of Comparative Statecraft has been asked which of two men has more influence over recent US and Israeli politics. It regrets to report that it cannot find a difference between them. On the opinion market, Donald Trump stands at 50% consensus and Benjamin Netanyahu at 50%. That is a tie, and the Office will not name a leader, however hard either man's press team leans on the door.
- Donald Trump50%
- Benjamin Netanyahu50%
The camps are not the same size. Trump has 11 holders and Netanyahu has 9, out of 12 unique traders who have put $114,572 behind their opinions. When the chart opened on Oct 29, Trump stood at 50% and Netanyahu at 50%. Since then Trump has moved between 50% and 52%. One detail deserves a note in the official record. A trader listed as anon capital backs Netanyahu because "this makes too much sense for it not to happen honestly", and is also listed backing Trump because "the signals are quiet but theyre consistent and they point here." The Office calls this a principled refusal to be wrong.
- Donald Trump 50.2%
- Benjamin Netanyahu 49.9%
The background gives that trader a decent excuse. Trump is the 47th president and was also the 45th, from 2017 to 2021, and according to his Wikipedia biography his politics have reshaped the Republican Party's identity since 2015. He also authorized the joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran that began the 2026 Iran war. Netanyahu is Israel's longest-serving prime minister, with terms from 1996 to 1999, from 2009 to 2021 and again since 2022. His Wikipedia biography says that from 2016 he made his closeness to Trump central to his appeal. That closeness paid off: Trump's first term recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights and brokered the Abraham Accords. Asking which of them is more influential is a bit like asking which half of a handshake did the shaking.
The Office therefore offers a modest proposal. Influence should be declared a jointly held asset, managed by a bilateral committee whose two members hold permanent tie-breaking votes over each other. If they disagree, the question goes to a subcommittee made up of the same two men, sitting in alphabetical order. The Office considers this efficient, because it describes the arrangement the brief already sets out. As hodl queen 👑 says in defence of the Trump side, "this is so cheap it only makes sense if everyones not paying attention." The Office has looked at the evidence and found people searching for Netanyahu right now, and very little separation between the two.
This is day one, and day-one ties don't last. The bigger Trump camp could turn its numbers into conviction, or Netanyahu, who people are searching for right now, could pick up late backers. Until someone breaks the tie, the Office will issue two certificates of supremacy, one to each man, in matching frames.
