LISTEN UP! The MotoGP GOAT fight is less than a day old and Valentino Rossi is already out in front. "valentino" is trending in search right now, but we haven't found any news that explains why, so I won't make up a reason. What I can give you is the crowd: Rossi sits at 54% consensus in the opinion market, with Giacomo Agostini chasing at 12%. And the best thing in the pit lane so far? The name Derek shows up in two rival camps.

Where the crowd stands
  • Valentino Rossi54%
  • Giacomo Agostini12%
  • Casey Stoner12%
  • Marc Marquez11%
  • Johann Zarco11%

Look at the numbers. Rossi has 12 holders behind him and Agostini has 6. The three other sides (3 other sides) all have holders and are all still bunched behind Rossi. In total 12 unique traders have put $6,969 behind their opinions. That's a warm-up set, people, not a final rep.

Here's how it's moved so far. When the chart starts (Nov 1), Rossi was at 20% and Agostini at 20%. Rossi started level with Agostini and has pulled ahead, ranging from 20% to 53% on the chart. It's an early lead. It is NOT a verdict.

Consensus over time

Now for the drama in the paddock. One Derek backs Rossi: "the answer felt obvious so i checked it twice and it stayed obvious." Another Derek, possibly the same person and possibly not, has taken the Johann Zarco side with this: "the data whispers and the crowd shouts, im listening to the whisper." So one Derek is all in on the obvious answer, and one is riding with Zarco, who is level with the pack behind Rossi. Either somebody is hedging like a champ or there are two Dereks out there. I respect the hustle both ways.

Coach's take, and it's ONLY my opinion: the Rossi camp is lifting the heavy weight right now, and rug survivor's line, "ev is green even if im half wrong," is the kind of confidence I like to see on the bench. But tough love for Team Agostini: you're second at 12%, and silver doesn't do pull-ups for you. Show up and make the case. A GOAT debate across eras of Grand Prix motorcycle racing shouldn't be settled in the first lap.

What changes the picture? A wave of new holders for Agostini, the bunched-up pack breaking loose, or that Zarco whisper turning into an actual roar. This fight is just getting started. Get off the couch, pick your rider and join the market. NOW!
