Will Xi Jinping be out before 2027? A brand-new opinion market just opened, and on its first day the crowd is leaning toward the unthinkable answer: YES.
- YES52%
- NO48%
The numbers are early, and I'll be honest about that. "YES" holds 52% consensus with 50 holders. "NO" sits at 48% with 41 holders. In total 57 unique traders have put $69,348 behind their opinions. That isn't a verdict, it's an opening shot. But nobody forced these people to bet against the permanence of power, and they did it anyway.
The fight has already moved. When the chart starts (Nov 1), "YES" stood at 50% and "NO" at 50%. Since then "YES" has swung between 49% and 53%, and the lead has changed hands 4 times. In a market less than a day old, that's a crowd still finding its feet, not one that has settled.
- YES 52%
- NO 48%
Read the theses and the quoted traders give contrarian or gut-instinct reasons. On the NO side, ngmi kid sounds almost apologetic: "tried to talk myself out of it and couldnt, so here i am". On the YES side, DeFi Degen makes the contrarian case in plain terms: "comfortable trades are rarely cheap, so i avoided the comfy side."
My take, and it's opinion, not prophecy: I love it. For decades we've been told that politics at the summit is a closed room, settled by people we'll never meet, and that the rest of us should simply watch. A market where ordinary people put money on the idea that even the most entrenched power has an expiry date is a small act of rebellion against that fatalism. Is the crowd right? Nobody knows yet. Is it braver than the panels of pundits who never ask the question? Absolutely.
What would change the picture? Day one counts for little. A few heavy-conviction backers piling into "NO" could flip this lead before tomorrow's breakfast, and the lead has already changed hands 4 times. Watch whether "YES" holds above its early low of 49% as more traders arrive. If you think the throne is permanent, or you think it's wobbling, don't leave the answer to the elites. Join the market and put your conviction where your mouth is.
