Chefs, step away from your stations. Lids down. The judges have tasted every dish in the great vacation cook-off, and... (long, unbearable pause while the music swells)... the winner is a log cabin at the end of a muddy trail. Not the infinity pool. Not the champagne deck. The nature cabin and hiking holiday has taken the golden spatula, and the poolside crowd is still asking whether there's been a mistake.
This is a big upset from where I last tasted this pot. In my earlier dispatch from this kitchen, the cruise ship was sailing off with the first plate and the road trip was revving right behind it. Since then, someone has scraped the pan clean and plated something else entirely.

Here's the scorecard from the opinion markets on Morfi, where people put real money behind their taste. Nature cabin and hiking leads with 43% consensus. The all-inclusive resort stay comes second at 17%. Also on the ballot: 3 other sides. That's 31 unique traders and $58,651 on the line, and trading opened less than a day ago. The pot is barely warm, but the crowd's conviction has already picked a winner.
And look at the two dishes that ended up in the final. It's a proper culinary showdown: wild foraged mushrooms against an endless buffet with a sneeze guard. One holiday makes you earn your dinner with blisters and a dodgy camp stove. The other brings dinner to your sunlounger and says nothing when you order a fourth piña colada at eleven in the morning. Those are opposite philosophies of rest, and the crowd has backed the one that comes with a pine-needle garnish.
My verdict, and it is purely my opinion, served with a flourish: the crowd got it right. A vacation is a dish, and the best dishes have contrast. A week of cold mornings, steep trails and fresh air makes the evening stew taste like a Michelin star. The all-inclusive is a beautiful sauce with nothing underneath it. Sweet and comforting, sure, but by day four your palate is begging for salt. The cabin gives you hunger, and hunger is the best seasoning any chef ever had. As for the cruise ship that once led this cook-off, it now looks like a soufflé that was lovely at the pass and had sunk by the time it reached the table.
Still, it's early in the service. With trading less than a day old, the resort could come back and the city break or road trip could still push to the front. Want to change the menu? Join the market on Morfi and back your favourite holiday before the judges ring the final bell. Service!
