WE HAVE A VERDICT! Rack the weights and drop the crust, people, because the crowd has picked its pizza chain and it is PIZZA HUT. Not the delivery machine. Not the one with the tracker app. The red roof with the deep pan. Domino's came in strong and left without the belt.
And this is a real upset, because on the business scoreboard Domino's is the heavyweight. According to its own SEC filing, Domino's ran more than twenty-two thousand locations in over ninety markets as of September 2026 and calls itself the largest pizza company in the world, with nearly all of its stores run by independent franchisees. Its third-quarter results, out in October 2026, showed same store sales still inching up at home and abroad. Small gains, but gains.
Pizza Hut's last few years look more like a hard cut. According to Wikipedia's Pizza Hut entry, it had nearly twenty thousand restaurants worldwide in 2025 but had already lost the title of biggest US pizza chain to Domino's by 2018. Yum! Brands shut well over a hundred Hut locations in 2025, opened a strategic review over weak sales, and announced a couple hundred more closures in February 2026. That is the trend line the Hut is fighting against.
Now the crowd. On Morfi's opinion markets, where people put real money behind what they think, Pizza Hut holds 60% consensus and Domino's sits at 40%. That comes from 84 unique traders with $231,905 on the line, all in less than a day of trading. Keep in mind the question was never about store counts. It asks which chain does better on quality, toppings, value and overall experience. Domino's wins on size. On taste, the crowd backs the Hut. My colleague Chef Basil Brawl watched the Hut jump out in front of this crust war early, and it held that lead.

Coach's take, and yes, it is purely my opinion: THIS IS WHAT HEART LOOKS LIKE. Closing stores, getting new owners, getting written off, and still taking the taste vote. Domino's, listen up. You built the biggest operation on the planet and the crowd still went for the other guy's pan pizza. Size is not strength! A fast delivery is nice. A crust worth remembering is better. Back in the kitchen and work on the dough.
What to watch next: the market has been open for less than a day, so this lead isn't locked in yet. Domino's has plenty of fans who could come back hard, and the Hut still has a strategic review hanging over it. Think the crowd got it wrong? Go to Morfi, put your money behind your slice and join the market. NO EXCUSES. Pick a side!
