People are searching "donald trump" right now, according to search trends and Wikipedia's most-read pages. We last covered that trend in a story on Trump trending on midterm day, where a day-old crowd put Kanye ahead for 2026's top search. In a fresh opinion market asking which man people prefer, Trump or Vladimir Putin, it's Putin's side that leads, and it has slightly fewer holders than Trump's.
- Vladimir Putin53%
- Donald Trump47%
Look at the numbers. Putin sits at 53% consensus with 9 holders. Trump trails at 47% with 10 holders. The gap in holders is tiny, but so far the smaller camp backs its side harder. Across the whole market, 10 unique traders have staked $14,227 on their opinions.
The fight is less than a day old, and it is already moving. When the chart starts (Nov 4), Putin stood at 49% and Trump at 51%. Since then Putin has ranged from 49% to 55%, and the lead has changed hands 1 time. This is an early lead, not a verdict.
- Vladimir Putin 53.3%
- Donald Trump 46.7%
Then there is 0xLiquidated, who has bets on both men and three written theses. Backing Putin: "small edge repeated enough times pays the bills." Backing Trump: "status quo is a hell of a drug and the status quo points here." The first line talks about a small edge. The second is a bet on the status quo. A third Trump note admits the trader "bought the top probably".
Here's my opinion, and I won't soften it. A preference market is not an endorsement of anyone. Leading a two-way contest by a whisker on day one isn't a mandate, and it doesn't make anyone a winner. I'm rooting for the day ordinary people stop being asked to pick a favourite emperor.
What would change the picture? If Trump's bigger camp starts betting like it means it, his head count could turn into the lead within hours, and another flip would show that the opening edge was just noise. If Putin's smaller camp holds through the week, that conviction gap will be the story. The polls are run by the powerful. This one is run by you. Join the market and put your stake behind your answer.
