A MIXTAPE MASTERPIECE: Guardians of the Galaxy Takes the Marvel Crown While The Avengers Are Left Plating at the Pass

Cloches up, everyone. The judges have tasted the whole superhero menu, and the result is in. The best Marvel movie ever, the dish that stands above every other plate in the kitchen, is... (I am letting it rest, like a good steak)... Guardians of the Galaxy. A talking raccoon, a tree with a three-word vocabulary and a man in a bomber jacket dancing to old pop songs have just beaten the most expensive superhero team-up ever put on a plate.

This is an upset with real flavour. When my colleague Madame Odds peered into her orb at the start of the service, she saw that The Avengers had assembled an early lead, with Black Panther prowling behind. Since then the kitchen has been turned over. Guardians of the Galaxy now sits at the head of the table with 42% consensus on Morfi's opinion markets, and The Avengers has dropped to second place with 23%.

The rest of the ballot (3 other sides) never got a plate to the front of the pass. And remember what those percentages measure: the crowd's conviction, not a head count. Here 11 unique traders put $22,894 on the line in less than a day of trading. That is a lot of money for a fight about a raccoon, and they put real conviction behind the misfits.

My verdict, and this is opinion served hot: the crowd got it right. The Avengers is a grand banquet, a seven-course tasting menu where every star chef demands a spotlight. Guardians is the dish you never ordered and can't stop thinking about. Grief, found family and a soundtrack that works like seasoning, all cooked by a ragtag crew nobody had heard of. Inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe there are plenty of fireworks. This one had heart, and on my scorecard heart beats the explosions every time.

Is the kitchen closed? Not quite. Opinion markets keep cooking, and with the runner-up still close behind, Earth's Mightiest Heroes could fight back if their fans fire up the burners.
