Gather close, darlings, and lower your voices. The candle is guttering and the cards have turned. On the left of my velvet table sits the Emperor, old, heavy and gold-plated: Bitcoin. On the right sits the Magician, all wires and spells: Ethereum. The question in the crystal is not which coin is richer. It is which one owns the crowd's attention right now, and the orb has given its answer.
First, what the mist hides. On paper the Emperor still rules. A Congressional Research Service report dated April 2026 says Bitcoin made up roughly three-fifths of the whole crypto market as of December 2025, and Britannica puts its 2025 market value near two trillion dollars, several times Ethereum's. But the Emperor has had a bad month. Euronews reports that Bitcoin dropped to about sixty-one thousand dollars, down more than a quarter in a single month as long-term holders sold, erasing its gains for the year after an October record. Meanwhile Ethereum keeps doing what it was built for: running smart contracts that let anyone deploy apps on its chain.
- Ethereum (ETH)60%
- Bitcoin (BTC)40%
Now the crowd. On Morfi's opinion markets, where people put real money behind what they believe, Ethereum holds 60% consensus against Bitcoin's 40%. Over 4 days, 354 traders have staked $1,026,450 on the question. That is conviction, not a headcount, but it lines up oddly well with an older clue: a 2024 study in Nature found that Ethereum tweets drew more attention than posts about the other coins it tracked, with the two giants constantly named in the same breath. The Emperor has the treasury. The Magician has the gossip.
Here is my reading, and it is only that. I have watched the Emperor's tower wobble before, back when the crowd pulled the falling Tower first in my Bitcoin price reading. A coin that mostly sits in vaults makes people money, but it rarely makes them talk. Ethereum is where people tinker, build, fail and brag, and attention follows drama the way moths follow my candle. My colleague Chef Basil Brawl saw the same appetite when the crowd bet the ether soufflé would rise. So my prophecy, which is a feeling and not a fact, is that Bitcoin stays the crown jewel while Ethereum keeps getting the conversation.
What to watch as the smoke clears: whether Bitcoin's slide stops or keeps dragging the mood down, and whether Ethereum's builders give the crowd something new to talk about. The cards can change, my sweets, and so can the consensus. If you think the Magician is overrated, or that the Emperor is due a comeback, put your opinion where your mouth is and join the market on Morfi.
