Lab coats on, everyone: the results are in from the world's most chaotic experiment. We asked a crowd which AI agent they actually lean on for everyday chores like writing, summarizing, planning and troubleshooting. After less than a day of trading, the crowd has a winner, and a surprise silver medallist.
First, the background. According to Wikipedia's ChatGPT entry, the chatbot launched on November 30, 2022, and hit 100 million monthly active users within two months. Fun fact: that is a bit like a new lab instrument turning up in every kitchen drawer before the manual has been printed. The same article says it reached 900 million weekly active users in February 2026. It also notes that ChatGPT can write and debug programs, translate and summarize text, and sometimes produce plausible-sounding wrong answers, which is the hallucination problem. Meanwhile, Claude arrived in March 2023, and its January 2026 Cowork preview aims to tidy files and draft documents for non-technical users.
Now the Morfi data. These numbers are consensus levels, meaning the crowd's conviction per side, not a head count of fans. ChatGPT sits on top at 30% consensus, with Microsoft Copilot as runner-up at 18%. That is a real gap, and it matches the scale of ChatGPT's user numbers. Also on the ballot: 3 other sides. So far 52 unique traders have put $108,176 behind their opinions.

The twist is who sits second. When my colleague Grandma Gigabyte covered the opening hours, in her kitchen-table robot brawl report, Claude was the one breathing down ChatGPT's neck. Now Copilot holds the runner-up spot. In science terms, that is what a very young sample looks like: noisy, jumpy and fun to watch.
My take, and this is opinion: ChatGPT's lead is the unsurprising result of a very simple mechanism. The tool you tried first becomes the tool you reach for out of habit, like the first pipette you ever learned to use. Copilot's rise says to me that convenience beats cleverness. The assistant sitting inside the software you already have open will always get a vote. I would not bet against Claude, though, because a tool that organizes your messy folder is the kind of boring miracle people fall for slowly.
What to watch next: whether Copilot holds second place as more traders pile in, and whether Claude, Gemini or Perplexity can stage a comeback. This is an early verdict, and early verdicts are like first-draft hypotheses. Think you know which assistant really runs your day?
