Madrid Own the Money, Barça Own the Arguments: The Clásico Crowd Can't Pick a Side
Six Morfi markets, two clubs level on 106 wins each, and a crowd that backs Real Madrid on who is best but Barcelona on who wins the debate.
On 13 May 1902, in the Copa de la Coronación, FC Barcelona beat Madrid FC 3–1. That was the first meeting, and the fixture has never really stopped since. Real Madrid was founded the same year, and the all-white kit that gave the club its nickname, Los Blancos, was already part of the story. It was a cup tie in the opening years of the century, and it started an argument that is still going.
The argument lasts because nobody can settle it. As of the match on 10 May 2026, the clubs were level in official competitive meetings, with 106 wins each and 52 draws, and Barcelona won that day 2–0 at La Liga level. The rivalry also carries more than football. The clubs are widely identified with Catalan separatism on one side and Spanish unionism on the other. Every result gets read as a verdict on something bigger, and the arguments never end.
On Morfi the argument keeps coming back. Across six markets, Barcelona finished ahead in two and Real Madrid in four. One market, the dominance fight, is still trading. All the percentages below are Morfi consensus, meaning the conviction level of each side in opinion markets where people back their view with money. They are not a share of voters and they are not a ruling from the football gods. Two columnists, one pitch, no referee. Dex Blitz takes Barcelona and Coach Tank takes Madrid.
Barça Win the Argument, and the Argument Is the Whole Game

Fans, get out of your seats! Look at where Barcelona actually won. In the market asking who wins the debate, Barça closed on 60% consensus to Madrid's 40%, with 26 traders putting money down. In the market asking who has the edge, it was the same 60% to 40%, this time with 31 traders, the biggest crowd of the rivalry. That one opened level, and Coach Tank's own story on the debate market has him gleefully calling it a bench-press. Barça broke the deadlock. When the crowd is asked to weigh the whole rivalry and not one season, it leans blaugrana.
Here is why. Barcelona has always been more than a club, and I mean that literally. The motto Més que un club came out of the Franco years, when the club was connected, in the telling of the time, to Catalan identity and progressive beliefs. In 1936 its president Josep Sunyol was arrested and executed without trial by Franco's troops. Nobody should turn that into a joke. It is why people hear the name Barcelona as a statement and not only a team sheet. And the first-ever Clásico? Barça 3–1. We scored first in history, folks.
Now the honest bit, because I respect you. Madrid hit Barça for 11–1 in the Copa del Rey on 19 June 1943, and they hold the record of seven straight wins in the fixture between 1962 and 1965. The dominance market is tight, Madrid on 52% to Barcelona's 48%, and the crowd handed Los Blancos the best-team crown, 71% to 29%. Fine. But that market had only 20 traders, and the all-time ledger is level at 106 apiece. The most recent Clásico on that ledger finished 2–0 to Barcelona. Momentum is not a trophy cabinet, Coach, but it is the thing that wins second halves.
Madrid Do the Reps While Barcelona Do the Talking
Coach TankSport & Fitness
LISTEN UP, BARÇA FANS! Dex wants you to admire a debate trophy. A DEBATE. Nobody ever got a beach body from winning a debate! Look at the questions that ask who is actually the best right now. Real Madrid took it 71% to 29%. Who is more dominant? Madrid lead 52% to 48%, and that market is still trading, so Barcelona still have time to catch up. Pick a side outright, Real Madrid or Barcelona? Madrid took that one too, 64% to 36%. That is a leg day for the culture club.
And dominance is a Madrid word. Eleven to one in 1943. That is not a score, that is a personal record. Seven wins in a row from 1962 to 1965, and nobody in this fixture has matched it. They wear white because champions do not hide the sweat. Founded in 1902, same year as the first meeting, and they have been pulling heavier weights ever since. Barça fans, I see you holding up the Més que un club banner. Motto is great. Scoreboard is the exercise.
Now tough love for MY side, because I do not coddle anybody. Madrid lost two of these markets, and the crowd was not exactly gentle. In the Champions League pick, Real Madrid only got 12% consensus, and Manchester City led the whole field on 20%, as my own story on that market said. Barcelona sat on 9%, so the Madrid lead there is a thin one. A champion does not get comfortable. A champion gets back under the bar. Dex, your lead at 2–0 on the night of 10 May 2026 is a good set. It is one set. We are still in the gym!
Round table
- Coach Tank
- Dex, straight question: two of your markets are debate and edge. Is Barcelona only winning the arguments that have no trophy attached?
- Dex Blitz
- Coach, the edge market had 31 traders and opened level. They did not just hand us the win. And let me ask you: if Madrid are so dominant, why is that market still just 52% to 48%?
- Coach Tank
- Because dominance is a marathon and the lead is a lead! A narrow lead is still a lead. You do not get to shout about a tie when you are behind.
- Dex Blitz
- Fair, but the all-time record is still level on 106 wins each, with 52 draws. What does your side do with that?
- Coach Tank
- We train. Level is not a destination, it is a starting line. Tell me this: does Barcelona's Més que un club talk beat seven straight wins?
- Dex Blitz
- It does when the crowd decides what the club means to them. The numbers on Morfi are opinion, and opinion is where Barça are strongest. My opinion: Barcelona hold the edge and debate markets and the dominance market flips to us by the next Clásico.
- Coach Tank
- My opinion, and it is just that: Madrid stay ahead on best and dominant, and the next Champions League markets give Los Blancos the nod over Barça. Dex, put your money where your mouth is!
- Dex Blitz
- Deal, Coach. The crowd will decide, and I expect the argument to carry on well past the next whistle.
