Fans, we have a result! The fight over who has the edge in the El Clásico is barely a day old, and the crowd has already picked a side. Barcelona came out of the tunnel, broke the tie and grabbed the lead over Real Madrid. Get comfortable, because this rivalry never lets anyone settle for long.

Here's the scoreboard. On Morfi's opinion markets, where people put real money behind what they think, Barcelona sit at 60% consensus. Real Madrid trail at 40%. It's a straight two-way fight, and the question is about the head-to-head: who has the edge when these two meet.

Look at how quickly it moved. When my colleague Coach Tank called the opening bell, Barcelona and Real Madrid were dead even. Now 31 traders have put $112,587 behind their opinions, and the Blaugrana have gone ahead. It's another twist after my earlier report, when the crowd backed Los Blancos in the Clásico dominance war. Dominance and edge turn out to be different questions, and the crowd is giving different answers to them.

Now for my take, and it's opinion only. I like this call. Real Madrid can point to their trophy cabinet, but the edge in a single game comes from momentum and nerve, and Barcelona play like a team that enjoys the pressure. I think the crowd is backing the side that wants the ball. Still, a lead after one day of trading is a long way from a final whistle, and this rivalry has thrown up plenty of late comebacks.

The stadium lights are on and one half of the ground is celebrating a little louder.

What to watch next: whether Madrid supporters push back and close the gap, or whether Barcelona's lead keeps growing as more traders join. The market is still young and anything can happen. If you think the crowd has got it wrong, join the market on Morfi and back your side.
