Hold onto your DualShock, because the crowd just dropped the keynote of the year. Which Grand Theft Auto is the best one you can play on a PlayStation? Is it the open-world monster? The gritty sequel? The old-school icon? The votes are in, and the leader is GTA: Vice City. Yes, the neon one. Yes, the 2002 one.
Why is everyone arguing right now? Because Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for November 2026, and the whole fandom is polishing its nostalgia. The ballot covers a huge span, from the PlayStation 2 trio of Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas, through GTA IV on PlayStation 3, to the PlayStation 3, 4 and 5 versions of GTA V. According to Wikipedia's entry on the series, Vice City was published in 2002 and was the first in the series with a speaking protagonist, voiced by Ray Liotta. San Andreas followed in 2004 with character customisation and a map spanning three cities and rural land.
The rival heavyweight is no slouch either. Grand Theft Auto V has over 230 million copies shipped, according to Wikipedia, and it earned $800 million on day one. That is a monster launch. And yet the crowd is not simply following the sales chart.
Here come the Morfi numbers. GTA: Vice City leads at 32% consensus. GTA IV sits second at 23%. That is the crowd's conviction, not a headcount, and it is a real gap. Also on the ballot: 3 other sides. So far 17 unique traders have put $5,340 behind their opinions, and trading opened less than a day ago. Fast and loud.
- GTA: Vice City32%
- GTA IV23%
- GTA: San Andreas22%
- GTA V12%
- GTA III12%
My take, and this is pure opinion, loud and proud: the crowd nailed it. Vice City is a launch-day vibe that never ends. Sunsets, synths, a protagonist who finally talks back. Does it have the biggest map or the biggest sales? No. Does it have the most personality per square inch? Absolutely. Sales numbers are a spec sheet. Vice City is the experience. GTA IV fans, I hear you, but second place on a first-day ballot is still a podium.
What to watch next? This is a day-one verdict, and the crowd can flip. A late wave of GTA V or San Andreas defenders could storm the leaderboard, and every new trailer chatter about GTA VI can shake the nostalgia meter. Think Vice City should stay on top, or want to crash the party? Jump into the opinion market on Morfi, back your pick with real money and make the crowd hear you.
