Kitchen, hands UP. Step away from your lightsabers and your wands, because the crowd has tasted every dish and handed down its verdict. The question was as big as a banquet: what is the greatest sci-fi or fantasy franchise of all time? Which universe would you happily move into, with the lore memorized and the merch hoarded in a cupboard? (Pause for effect.) The winner is a galaxy far, far away.
This is pure taste, no box-office spreadsheet in sight, just devotion poured straight into the pan. On Morfi's opinion markets, where people put real money behind their opinions, Star Wars sits at the head of the table with 27% consensus. Harry Potter comes in second with 16%, a good honest bake but still short of the top shelf. Behind them, 4 other sides are still plating up.
- Star Wars27%
- Harry Potter16%
- Marvel Cinematic Universe15%
- The Lord of the Rings14%
- Star Trek14%
- Dune14%
Let me be clear about what is being weighed here. Those percentages measure the crowd's conviction for each side, not a headcount. So far 43 traders have stepped up to the pass, with $290,310 behind their opinions, and the market opened less than a day ago. In other words this is the first tasting, not the final service. It also tastes different from an earlier franchise war that my colleague Kiki Scroll covered, where Star Trek boldly went into first. The galaxy is one big buffet, and every crowd orders off a different menu.
Now my verdict, and it's all opinion, darling. Star Wars wins because it is a five-course mother sauce: myth, space opera, a samurai film and a family drama, all reduced into one glossy demi-glace. Harry Potter is gorgeous comfort food, a steaming treacle tart you remember from childhood, but comfort food rarely wins the grand final. The Force has range. Hogwarts has warmth. On this menu, range takes the trophy.
But the oven is still hot. With the market so young, one strong surge of Potterheads or a rally from the rest of the ballot could flip this dish before it even sets. Think the crowd got the seasoning wrong? Join the market on Morfi and back your own universe. The judges' table is open, and nobody leaves until the plates are clean.
- Star Wars 26.6%
- Harry Potter 16.4%
- Marvel Cinematic Universe 14.6%
- The Lord of the Rings 13.8%
