Gather close, seekers, and lower your voices. The crystal ball has clouded over, cleared, and given its answer: today the younger coin outruns the elder. Ether, the restless second-born of the crypto family, is crowned the likely winner of the daily gains race, and grand old Bitcoin sits by the fire muttering about seniority. Hold off on the incense, though. The orb has spoken, but the price charts haven't finished their sentence.

What do the mortal records show? Not much, and only about one of the two coins. A live markets blog snapshot from ABC News in mid-October 2026 had bitcoin up a fraction of a single percent, trading somewhere in the low eighty-thousands of US dollars. That same page gives no figure at all for ether, so it can't settle the duel. And the longer reading is gloomy: Euronews reports that bitcoin fell sharply on a Monday, dropping below seventy-five thousand euros as a wider crypto sell-off dragged on from the record high it hit the previous October. So the elder coin comes to this race limping, and nobody has yet published the younger one's pulse.

With the scrolls that thin, the crowd went ahead on instinct and wallets. In Morfi's opinion market, "ETH gains more" sits at 60% consensus, with "BTC gains more" behind it on 40%. That's 80 unique traders with $106,732 riding on their hunches, and the market opened less than a day ago. When my colleague Chef Basil Brawl last stirred this pot, the two pans were in a dead heat on the daily-gains burner. Now the conviction has picked a side, and it isn't the side with the famous name.

My own reading, and it's only my opinion, comes straight off the tarot deck. Bitcoin draws the Hermit: wise and revered, and lately walking a lonely road downhill with a lantern. Ether draws the Fool, stepping off the cliff and somehow landing on its feet. After weeks of bruising, the Fool usually rebounds harder than the Hermit, and I suspect the crowd can smell it. But I'll warn you, as every honest fortune teller should, that a crowd backing ether without a single ether price in the brief is reading tea leaves in the dark. Romantic, yes. Proven, not yet.

The orb favours the silver diamond today. The gold coin has asked for a second opinion.

What to watch before the candles burn out: any same-day ether quote that finally lets us compare the two, and whether bitcoin's small uptick in the ABC snapshot turns into a proper bounce or fades back into the slide Euronews described. If bitcoin rallies hard, the Hermit could still beat the Fool. These numbers come from live opinion markets on Morfi, where people put money behind what they believe. Think the orb is wrong?
