Draw the curtains, light the incense, and lay your palm on the cold glass. The spirits of the blockchain stir, and once again the old question rises: will Bitcoin finish today above where it started, or below it? The crowd has argued it out with real money on the table, and my orb now glows a stubborn shade of green.

First, what the mortal instruments show. According to the ABC's live markets blog, one snapshot on Wednesday morning had Bitcoin edging up by a sliver to a little over eighty-three thousand US dollars, after Wall Street closed the previous session slightly in the red, with the Dow and the Nasdaq each giving up a fraction while the S&P 500 went nowhere. A day earlier, an earlier ABC snapshot showed a similar small gain. Be warned, though: these are passing glimpses taken in the middle of the day, not the opening and closing prices, so they show which way the wind was blowing at that moment and no more. And the omens of 2026 have not been gentle. Euronews reported that Bitcoin dropped after the US Senate blocked a landmark crypto bill in September.

And so to the opinion markets on Morfi, where the crowd has to back its hunches with money. "BTC Up Today" holds 60% consensus, with "BTC Down Today" trailing on 40%. That is 12 traders putting $86,416 behind their convictions, in a market that opened less than a day ago. The bulls lead, which suits those small green flickers in the ABC snapshots. But a flicker is not a forecast, and the crowd seems to know it: this is a lead, not a coronation by landslide. Last time I gazed into this glass, the bears wore the crown, and my colleague Chef Basil Brawl has watched the up camp lead the pass before as well. The spirits of this market change their minds more often than I change my shawl.

Pixel-art fortune teller's tent with a crystal ball glowing a green upward arrow, a bull beside it and a sulking bear in the shadows.
The orb glows green for today, and the bear in the corner is already muttering about tomorrow.

Now my own reading, and take it as the opinion of a woman who talks to playing cards. I think the crowd is leaning green out of hope as much as evidence. Euronews has noted that crypto usually moves in step with US tech stocks, and the Nasdaq slipped in its last session. A coin that keeps up with the tech crowd while the tech crowd stumbles is tempting fate. Still, the Tower card sat face down in my spread this morning, so I side with the bulls for today, and only just. Ask me again at dusk.

What to watch: how Wall Street opens, whether tech stocks drag Bitcoin with them, and whether those small intraday gains last until the close or fade like smoke from a snuffed candle. The orb has given its verdict, but the day is not over. Bring your own omens and join the market on Morfi before the crystal goes dark.
