The verdict is in, and it lands hard on the people who run things. Asked whether Donald Trump or Barack Obama left the stronger legacy, the crowd picked Obama. Second place didn't go to Trump at all. It went to "Neither". Think about that. Two of the most powerful men of the century, two vast campaign machines, and a big part of the crowd's conviction went to the option that says the whole system is a let-down.
First, a fact the market's own description gets wrong: Trump is not a former president. He is serving a second term that began in 2025, so his legacy is still being written while we argue about it. Obama's is still contested too. NPR argues that Obama's place in history depends partly on whether Trump's politics prove a lasting trend or an aberration. Meanwhile Trump has reversed many Obama-era policies, from pulling out of the Paris Agreement to rolling back climate and LGBTQ protections, according to his Wikipedia biography. And Brookings has said Obama's legacy rests mainly on symbolism and a patchwork of executive actions, with Obamacare his one major and fragile legislative win.

Now the numbers. On Morfi, where people put money behind their opinions, Obama leads at 44% consensus, "Neither" is second at 35%, and the rest of the ballot (1 other side) trails behind. So far 22 traders have staked $132,239, and trading opened less than a day ago. That fits the wider mood: a June 2026 CNN survey reported by NPR gave Obama a fifty-seven percent favorable rating, with Trump and Joe Biden both stuck in the thirties. Back in 2016, Pew found the country split along party lines on how Obama would be remembered, with Democrats far more generous than Republicans. My colleague Ada Bytewell already watched the crowd crown Obama the greatest of the last four presidents, so this is a pattern, not a fluke.
Here's my take, and it is opinion: the real headline is the runner-up. "Neither" is a protest vote with money behind it. It's the crowd telling the summit-goers, donors and cable pundits that a legacy built on executive orders the next president can shred, or on rallies and reversals, isn't really a legacy. It's a swinging pendulum. Obama wins this round because the comparison favors him, not because the crowd thinks the system works. Who builds anything that lasts when every administration's first job is undoing the last one's? The crowd sees through the act, the same way it slammed the door on a Trump third term.
What comes next? The November 2026 midterms, which some coverage frames as a referendum on Trump, could shake this market up quickly. Watch whether "Neither" keeps climbing or whether partisan loyalty pulls the money back into two camps. The market is barely a day old and the verdict is still open. Join the opinion market on Morfi and put your money where your conviction is.

the odds here are just wrong, someone priced this like its impossible
i only need this to be a little more likely than the price says, and it is
the setup is basically pre loaded, just waiting on the trigger
herd is loud and probably wrong, betting on that
their case needs everything to go right. mine doesnt.
