The question on the table is simple enough: which coin owns crypto's attention, Bitcoin or Ethereum? The answer, after 2 days of open trading on Morfi's opinion markets, is that nobody is prepared to concede. It is the longest-running argument in the sector, now with a price attached.

Where the crowd stands
  • Bitcoin (BTC)54%
  • Ethereum (ETH)46%

On the board, Bitcoin (BTC) sits at 54% consensus with 199 holders, while Ethereum (ETH) answers at 46% consensus with 80 holders. Bitcoin holds the nominal front, in the way a man holds the front of a queue that has not moved since lunch. Neither camp has managed the decisive push that would turn a lean into a verdict.

When our desk covered the opening bell, Bitcoin had grabbed an early lead and the ETH army was refusing to stand down. The interim period has been less a rout than a siege. Every advance gets met, every dip gets bought, and the line keeps drifting back toward the middle of the road like a car with poor alignment.

Consensus over time

  • Bitcoin (BTC) 54.4%
  • Ethereum (ETH) 45.6%

The participation is not trivial. 228 unique traders have put $575,505 behind their opinions, which is a considerable sum to spend agreeing to disagree. Bitcoin's camp leans on being the original and the default headline. Ethereum's camp leans on being where the products and narratives actually get built. Both arguments are compelling, which is precisely the problem.

Move forty-seven. Still no checkmate. Someone order coffee.

My view, offered as opinion and not advice: deadlocks like this rarely end with a knockout and usually end with somebody getting bored. If you believe you know which coin truly owns the conversation, the market is still open on Morfi and you can join it. Bring conviction, and perhaps a sandwich.
