Put on your safety goggles, friends. A fight just broke out in the animal intelligence lab. A new opinion market on Morfi asks a simple question with a messy answer: which animal is the smartest overall? The market judges on learning, problem-solving, tool use, memory and communication. Trading opened less than a day ago, and the beakers are already bubbling.

Early on, the Dolphin camp has the lead at 27% consensus, with 6 holders backing the clicking geniuses of the sea. Maybe it's the signature whistles, which work a lot like names. Maybe it's the playful way they handle tricky puzzles. Either way, the crowd's conviction is splashing their way.

Close behind are the Elephants at 19% consensus, with 2 holders. Think of them as the careful lab veterans. They have long memories, rich social lives, and a reputation for remembering things that matter. Purely my opinion: never bet against an animal that might remember the bet.

Still on the ballot: 3. Don't count them out. Crows and their corvid cousins are the engineers of the bird world, shaping twigs into tools. Chimps are our close relatives and handy with tools of their own. Then there's the octopus. Fun fact: much of its nervous system sits in its arms, so each arm can do a bit of thinking on its own. Imagine your fingers solving a crossword while you make tea.

So far 17 unique traders have joined in, putting $77,497 behind their opinions. In lab terms, this experiment has barely started. Early readings are interesting, but nothing has been peer-reviewed yet. One clever octopus fan or a flock of crow loyalists could still shake things up.

Got a view on who belongs at the top of the class? Join the market on Morfi and back your pick, whether that's the whistler, the rememberer, the tinkerer, the cousin or the arm-thinker.
