Gather close, scrollers, and lay your thumbs upon the velvet. I have shuffled the deck and turned the cards, and the verdict on the question that haunts every idle evening is in: X versus Facebook, which feed do you actually prefer? The orb glows black and white rather than blue. X takes the crown. Mark Zuckerberg's empire, the place where your aunt still posts sunsets, has been left holding a Poke nobody will return.

Now for the strange part, because the spirits love irony. On sheer numbers this should never have been a fight. A Wikipedia list updated in February 2026 puts Facebook at roughly three billion monthly active users and X somewhere north of half a billion. Britannica notes that by 2021 Facebook already had nearly three billion users, about half of them logging in daily. X, meanwhile, does not publish its active account figures at all, so every estimate is tea leaves, and Wikipedia reports its mobile usage has been sliding, with Threads matching it in January 2026 even as X still rules the desktop. A 2026 study in Nature found two-thirds of its active X users opened the app at least once a day, though the authors warn that the habit may not hold for the less devoted.

Where the crowd stands
  • X (Twitter)74%
  • Facebook26%

And yet the crowd has turned its back on the giant. On Morfi's opinion markets, where people stake real money on what they believe, X (Twitter) holds 74% consensus against Facebook's 26%. That figure measures how strongly the crowd is convinced, not a headcount, and the conviction leans clearly toward the platform the brief describes as shrinking on mobile and arguing about where it's headed. So far 17 traders have put $46,856 behind their picks, and the market opened less than a day ago, so the incense is still wet.

Three billion souls in the fog, and the orb still points at the little dark bird.

Here is my reading, and it is only opinion, smoke and nerve. Being big is not the same as being loved. Facebook is the family photo album of the internet: everybody owns one and nobody opens it on purpose. X is the séance that keeps going wrong, loud and chaotic and impossible to look away from, and a crowd that trades on conviction will always pick drama over birthday reminders. I suspect the vote is less about which app is better and more about which one people can't stop arguing over. The Tower card fits X, all lightning and falling bricks, and some people simply prefer to live inside the storm.

What should you watch for? Whether X's mobile decline and the rise of Threads drag its backing down, whether Facebook's quiet billions ever wake up and push back, and whether the early lead survives once the newcomers turn up. My crystal is cloudy and the market is a day old. Go and join the market on Morfi, put your stake on your own feed, and help me find out if this prophecy holds.
