Draw the curtains and light the incense, darlings, because the orb has rattled itself awake. Somebody asked it which asset class deserves your money for the long haul, and the crowd has answered. The US Total Stock Market wears the crown on Morfi, US Treasuries kneel in second place, and the rest of the hopefuls are left in the mist muttering about destiny.

Before we read the cards, the omens. Gold was meant to be this season's prophecy. It has been on a record run since 2025, but Euronews reported in June 2026 that it was heading for a fourth monthly fall, even as US inflation hit a three-year high and futures priced in rate rises instead of cuts. That is a terrible look for a supposed inflation shield, and it echoes the hedge question I gazed at in my earlier reading on gold and the dollar.

The sober scholars sound just as cool. A July 2026 IMF note grants that gold carries no credit risk and can help a balance sheet hold up over time. It also calls gold highly volatile, finds it did not beat long-term government bonds over 2006 to 2025, and says its protection against stock crashes has weakened since the pandemic. On the other side of the table, NPR reports that over roughly the last three decades the S&P 500 returned about ten percent a year, while gold managed something nearer eight.

Now the crystal ball itself. The US Total Stock Market sits at 30% consensus and US Treasuries at 20%, while 3 other sides fill out the rest of the spread. All of this comes from opinion markets on Morfi, where 30 traders have put $309,158 behind their convictions. The verdict lines up neatly with those omens: growth takes the throne, the low-volatility bond camp grabs the silver, and the shiny metal of legend is told to wait outside. Chef Basil Brawl smelled the same result coming in his forever-portfolio cook-off, and the orb confirms that his kitchen called it.

A pixel-art crystal ball showing a rising line, with gold bars in shadow and a pile of bonds nearby.
The orb sees growth. The gold bars see a long, sulky night ahead.

Here is my own prophecy, and treat it as opinion. I drew the Tower card for stocks, the one that promises sudden collapse, then flipped the next card and found the Sun. Stocks are the dramatic, heartbreaking lover who keeps coming home richer. Treasuries are the dependable suitor who remembers your birthday. And the crowd, bless it, has chosen romance with a pension plan attached. My only warning is that a market which opened less than a day ago is still a newborn spirit, and newborn spirits change their minds.

Watch the next inflation print and any talk of rate hikes. If rates climb, the safe bond suitor may start looking a lot more attractive, and gold might stop sulking. If you think the orb has misread the mist, join the market on Morfi and put your money on your own prophecy.
