Plates down, everyone. Quiet in the kitchen. The verdict is in on the boldest dish anyone has wheeled out all season: will Zcash, the crypto world's masked chef, trade above $5,000 at any point in 2026? And the crowd, bless its sugar-rushed heart, has said yes. This isn't asking a cake to rise. This is asking it to float out the window and orbit the restaurant.
Let me read you the ingredients, because they matter. According to Grayscale's Zcash Trust filing with US regulators, each ZEC was valued at just under four hundred dollars at the end of June 2026, down from roughly five hundred at the close of 2025. A separate Grayscale registration document shows that over the year to June the price swung from a few tens of dollars up to a peak of nearly seven hundred in November 2025. The same filing says the price fell by roughly half after a vulnerability was disclosed, has since recovered a good deal, and that developers rolled out a network upgrade called Ironwood in late July to help verify the coin's supply. Put another way, the oven is warm, but $5,000 is a whole other kitchen.
There's some seasoning in there for the optimists too. As the Zcash Wikipedia entry notes, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission closed its probe into the coin in January 2026, and Foundry launched a dedicated Zcash mining pool in April. Pleasant garnishes. Neither one is a tenfold rise.
- Yes: exceeds $5,00060%
- No: stays below $5,00040%
And still the diners have spoken. On Morfi's opinion markets, "Yes: exceeds $5,000" leads with 60% consensus, against 40% for "No: stays below $5,000". That's the crowd's conviction, not a headcount: 17 traders have put $15,979 behind their opinions, and the pot has been on the stove for less than a day. So the crowd has read the same sobering menu as me and ordered the flambé regardless.
My verdict, and it is purely opinion from the judge's chair: this dish is all aroma and no structure. I adore the romance of it. A privacy coin shakes off a regulator, survives a scare, ships a fix, and rockets to glory. Gorgeous telly. But to clear $5,000 from where the filings last left it, ZEC needs to multiply many times over in a matter of months, and the closest it has come is that November high, nowhere near the line. The crowd is tasting the dream and skipping the ingredient list. I'd send it back, with love.
What to watch: whether Ironwood calms nerves about the supply, whether any fresh price data shows a real surge heading into the end of the year, and whether this brand-new market's conviction holds up once the sugar rush fades. Think the crowd is cooking up a miracle, or just burning the sugar? Pull up a stool and join the market on Morfi. The pass is open, and the judge is hungry.
