WHISTLE! Everybody on the line! The crowd was asked to name the best football league in the world, and it picked something that is not even a league. The UEFA Champions League is a knockout cup competition, and it just took the top spot from the domestic heavyweights. You want a twist? There it is. Now hydrate, because the debate has barely started.
Here's the context. The usual argument is about Europe's Big Five, and nobody agrees on how to score them. According to the Wikipedia overview of the Big Five leagues, the Premier League makes the most money, brings in billions every year and has the biggest worldwide audience. The Bundesliga has the highest average match attendance. Then there's ESPN's 2025-26 watchability analysis, which covers a debate over whether the Premier League has become less entertaining, with less time spent in open play. In ESPN's top ten, Aston Villa and Arsenal are the only English sides. Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Lens and Inter fill out much of the list.
Now the scoreboard. On Morfi's opinion market, the Champions League leads at 30% consensus. The English Premier League is next at 19%. Further back come 3 other sides. So far 19 traders have put $26,986 behind their opinions, and trading opened less than a day ago. The crowd's choice follows ESPN's point that the best matches are spread across Europe. If the best teams come from several countries, the competition that puts them on the same pitch has a strong case.

This part is my opinion, so listen up. The crowd got it right, and I'll defend that call all day. The Champions League takes the best teams from every country and puts them in the same knockout bracket. One bad night and you're out. That's the kind of pressure that makes a squad better. Premier League fans, I hear you. You have the most money, the biggest audience and the loudest marketing. Being rich doesn't win this, though. Spend less time passing it around the back and more time attacking. Get your engine running again, then come back for a rematch.
What's next? This market is less than a day old, so the result can still change. Watch whether Premier League fans close the gap, and whether La Liga or Bundesliga supporters push their way into the race. Think you know better? Join the market on Morfi and back your opinion with money. If you don't take a side, you don't get a say in the result.
