DING DING DING! Somebody ring the bell, because the fight is OVER. The crowd has scored the biggest heavyweight debate in sport, and the belt goes to Muhammad Ali. Yesterday my colleague Dex Blitz called this one a dead-level split decision. Today it isn't level. Today the Greatest gets his arm raised. Again.
Look at the scorecards before you start yelling at me. Historians widely describe Ali as the greatest heavyweight ever, and The Ring ranked him first among heavyweights from all eras in 1998. Britannica notes he was the first man to win the heavyweight title three separate times. In the other corner, Mike Tyson won his first nineteen pro fights by knockout, twelve of them in the first round, and became the youngest heavyweight champion ever at twenty. That's raw horsepower, folks. But the same Ring list put Tyson fourteenth in 1998, and in 2020 one Ring writer had him seventeenth of twenty.

So what does the crowd say? Ali sits at 60% consensus on Morfi's opinion market. Tyson is at 40%. That's 39 traders putting $137,016 behind their opinions in less than a day of trading, and the conviction lines up almost punch for punch with the experts. One ESPN columnist ranking fourteen standout heavyweights put Ali at the top and said you have to weigh dominance AND how tough each fighter's era was. The crowd did the same homework.
My take, and it IS my take: this is the right call. Tyson was the most terrifying thing ever to step into a ring, and I'd put his early-round highlight reel on every treadmill screen on Earth. But greatness isn't one burst. Greatness is ROUNDS. Ali kept coming back, kept winning the title back, kept doing it against a stacked division. Team Tyson, hear me: you didn't lose because your guy was weak. You lost because you trained for sprints in a marathon. Get back in the gym, study the film, and come back with a better argument!
Is this fight finished? Trading opened less than a day ago, and a Tyson comeback would be very on brand, so keep watching that 40% figure. And the description already names Floyd as a possible third man, so this ring may not stay two-way. Think you can change the score? Join the market on Morfi, put your money on your opinion, and throw some punches!
